Ballinastoe Golf Club is located in a scenic area of natural beauty, three miles from the village of Roundwood, Co Wicklow, approximately 20 miles from the centre of Dublin. It is surrounded by Djouce woods and Mountain with the Sugarloaf Mountain to the east.

The developer, Anthony Mulligan, has completed the developement of a nine-hole golf course on his lands at Ballinastoe which started in 2003. Anthony was previously in the building trade for over forty years and has applied this experience together with the expertise of others to build what is now a top quality course. Anthony's nephews, Fergal, Brian and Thomas are also involved in the day to day running of the club and maintenance of the course.

The design of the course at Ballinastoe has been carefully prepared by international golf course architect Ron Kirby with the assistance of international golf Agronomists and Consultants, Turfgrass Consultancy Ltd. The course is an American design and is quite long and challenging, you will use most clubs in the bag!. Feedback from golfers to date has been extremely positive, in particular in relation to the greens.

Ron Kirby is one of the world’s most respected and renowned golf course designers. His design career has spanned 5 decades, taking him around the globe to fashion some of the game’s great courses.

Mr Kirby was recruited by Robert Trent Jones in the 1960’s to design golf courses in the US and England. In 1970 he formed an association with golf architect Arthur Davis, based in Georgia working alongside golfing legend Gary Player. Mr Kirby was asked to join Jack Nicklaus Golf Design Services in 1986 to take responsibility for all of Jack’s European projects. To this day, he is the senior consultant for many of Jack’s projects.

Famed throughout the world for his work designing courses like those at Gleneagles, Sun City and the Paris International, in Ireland, he is celebrated for his work at Mount Juliet in Kilkenny and at the old Head near Kinsale, where he first worked with course designer and Irish golfer Joe Carr. Recently, he completed the newly re-modeled Dromoland Castle Golf Club in Co.Clare which opened to widespread acclaim.

Turfgrass Consultancy Limited is an Irish firm of Agronomists and Golf course consultants. Formed in 1997, they have worked on over 40 courses here in Ireland. Their expertise in site and soil analysis has helped form the design concept with Ron Kirby.

Avondale Landscapes is a local based company with 15 years experience in Golf Course construction. Their role was to complete the greens shaping contours and seeding. They have been involved in other golf course projects such as Blainroe, Courtown, Druids Heath, Bray to name but a few. |

All greens (which are sand based), tees and fairways have been successfully completed to a very high standard. Permission has also been granted for a 2,500 Sq Ft log cabin clubhouse and construction of this will commence once memerbship in the club is firmly established. In the meantime a 900 sq ft temporary Wood clubhouse has been built which includes Ladies and Mens dressing rooms,toilets and showers, kitchen and reception area. GUI affiliation was received in February 2008. We are also pleased to announce the appointment of the Mens Club Committee as follows for 2007/2008; Captain (and Chairman):James Byrne, Vice Captain:Mick Barry, Secretary:Simon Maxwell,Treasurer:Fergal Mulligan, Handicapping Secretary Willie McAnaspie, Paddy King, Geoff Young, Mark Walsh and Colm Shortt.
