Our Locality

Roundwood Village

About

It is located where the R755 road joins the R764 and R765. The R755 is part of the main route from Dublin to Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains.

At 238 metres above sea level, Roundwood is one of the highest villages in Ireland. Roundwood is historically known as Togher (an Tóchar meaning “the causeway”). It is also well known thanks to the nearby Vartry Reservoir which was built in the 1860’s to help meet much of Dublin’s water supplies.

Local Restaurants

The Roundwood Inn

It has a public bar at one end with a snug and an open fire and, in the middle of the building, the main bar food area has an enormous open fireplace with a log fire. This has been a popular Pub & Restaurant for many years now. A warm welcome is always on offer.

Woods Restaurant

This is new to Roundwood. The owner is from the well established Bates restaurant in Rathdrum. The menu is based on quality Irish produce but done with a hint of an Italian influence which is going down very well with the locals and visitors alike.

Place to stay near the course

Ballinastoe House

This is a lovely looking guest house and B & B. It is situated across the road from the Golf Club and there are views right the way across the course and over towards the reservoir. This is the perfect base to stay & play the course.
