Matchplay Reaches Semi Final’s
Mulligan Matchplay Trophy
They’re just one step away from reaching the final and being crowned the Matchplay Champion for 2011.
The draw for the Semi Finals are:-
Paddy King Vs Ger Cullen

Ondrej Steiranka Vs John Cleary

Match 1:
Ger Cullen will go into the final 4 as the favourite having won the Trophy in 2009. His route to reaching the Semi Final’s this year would have proved too tough for many but he got the better of the 2010 Champion and is showing some fine golfing form.
However, his opponent in the Semi Final will be Paddy King. They don’t call him ‘King’ for nothing. Paddy is famed for his mental game and you’d be hard pushed to find a finer competitior in the club than Paddy.
This match could prove to be the tie of the Competition.
Match 2:
Ondreij ‘The Giant’ Steiranka has taken to Matchplay golf like he’s been doing it his whole life. He’s claimed the scalp of some golfing powerhouses on way to the Semi’s.
Ondreij will need to live up to the ‘Giant’ tag as he takes on John Cleary in the Semi Final’s. John was runner up in 2010 and matchplay is a format that really suits his game. It’s clear to see that John is determined to go one step further after last years near miss.
This match promises to be a real cracker and one worthy of a Semi Final.
