Good Balance drill

Feet together Practice

Good balance is a very important aspect of a consistent swing. If you are off balance through the impact zone in your swing the club face will not be square for you to make sold contact with the ball.

A good way to improve your balance is to practice hitting shots with your feet together. Using your driver, stand with your feet together (nearly touching) and make a swing. If you swing too hard and try to shift too much weight either going back or through, you’ll fall over.

Now take out an 8 or 9 iron and try to hit some shots with your feet together. Try to make a three quarter length swing as smoothly as possible. Once you have hit a number of balls with this smooth swing motion you will really begin to notice how much better your balance is.

Next time you are on the course try to make this same swing action with a normal stance. You will hit much more consistent shots and ultimately be better balanced in your golf shot.

This practice drill seems very simple which it is but I promise you it is a sure way for you to find good balance,  good swing tempo, and better ball contact. This all leads to being more consistent on the course which is what most of us all crave to be able to achieve.
